Lower back pain

by Trish
(Jersey)

Hello - I was knocked down by a dog. I fell backwards and landed flat on my back. That was 2 months ago. I have had 3 sessions at my chiropractor but am still in pain. I seem to live on pain killers now. No problem before this.

Am I going to be stuck with this for the rest of my days now? My chiro didn't mention exercises. Will this help? Should I see my GP for anti inflamatories as I just take paracetamol.
Thank you so much.

Hello Trish,
Apologies for the late reply.

It's pretty rare that any doctor, chiropractor, physio will fix any lower back pain case after trauma in just three visits, especially after a two-month delay. Did you see some improvement? Did you feel confident in him or her? Did you click?

Personally I give most of my lower back patients some exercises to be done daily, they take just a few minutes, but it depends on the diagnosis; not every case. You'll find some if you scout about Chiropractic Help.

Do you have leg pain? Were X-rays taken.

You see I have no idea what the cause of your pain is, so it is difficult for me to advise. Do you feel you may have broken something? It happens, especially at L1 after a fall like that? Are you osteoporotic, so many questions, so little data for me to work with.

What is certainly important is that you don't end up taking painkillers for the rest of your life. They will make a hole in your stomach.

I hope this contributes.

Hullo again - I am pleased to report that life is back to normal after falling off the pavement !! Yes, they did take an x ray and nothing broken. I did a few lil exercises and slowly but surely, 3 months have now gone by and just a few twinges, which I am sure are all normal for my age group !! Thank yu for yr reply, very helpful.
Kind regards

Trish

It sounds like you have recovered, it means you are strong and healthy to recover like that.

Keep doing the exercises.
