Tietzes syndrome

I'm 18 and have had shoulder muscle tension chest aches near breast bone area and aching in my wrist under arm thumb and elbow for about three months. Breathing in or moving a certain way doesn't affect it. Lately I've had headaches and neck pain too. Any ideas on what this could be? My doctor has ran blood tests and upper GI and chest xray and they came out normal. Its made the past few minths miserable. Id really appreciate a second opinion.

A second opinion means a proper examination, Chels. Your doctor has been trying to rule out any nasties in the lungs, stomach, liver, gall bladder area. Great that they are all negative.

Now what's needed is a thorough chiropractic examination of your neck, thoracic spine, arm and rib cage.

If you press on the joints between the ribs and your sternum, is it painful. And, lying on your tum, if someone presses quite hard where the rib meets your back, is one side different to the other? Tietzes syndrome is one condition that should be considered.

Then, if you turn your head to the involved side, and then look up, does it hurt in your neck? In your arm? You might also do the Upper Limb Tension test to see if there is a pinched nerve in the neck.

Find a good chiropractor may be your next step. Make sure you find someone who does a thorough examination. Do your homework.

Let me know how you get on.
