Weird feeling in hands and feet

by SleeplessGirl

I am a fairly healthy female in my mid-twenties, and I am getting very frustrated with waking up at night because of a strange feeling in my hands and feet, but usually it's just my feet.

I would describe it like stagnant pressure built up and circling round restlessly, it is kind of a tingly feeling but it isn't the usual pins-and-needles feeling when limbs fall asleep.

This lasts for hours, and only happens when I am in bed trying to sleep. It happened real bad last night to my left hand, for hours it felt weird and I couldn't make it stop no matter how I positioned it.

The only thing I can think of that may have caused it last night was that I had a large mcdonalds fries... :P it was a treat, I usually eat quite healthy otherwise.

It is so frustrating how this is affecting my sleep, any advice would be appreciated.

Hello Sleepless girl,

Mm, not sure really. In part it sounds like "restless legs syndrome" in the legs but that wouldn't affect your hand.

The tingly feeling in your arm sounds rather like carpal tunnel or a Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

Because it is affecting your arms and legs, I would start with a medical checkup. If your doctor comes up with nothing, then look for a chiropractor in your area.

You don't sleep on your tum?

Dr B.
