Trauma to forearm

by Cris
(Texas)

Child cut the muscle about an inch deep upper part by the elbow . It has swelling and numbness to the skin and color of skin is a little darker 17 stitches 3 inside 14 outside . Could she have hit a nerve?
Hello,
Presumably the front of the elbow. Yes, both the median and radial nerves pass through the region. But then she would have had serious problems in the hand. Can she move all the fingers normally, and is the feeling (with pinprick) the same right and left?
One would expect some change in the grip strength simply due to the injury of the muscles, but if there is significant weakness in the fingers, then I'd recommend a neurological consultation. It doesn't sound like a case for a chiropractor.

I hope this has contributed.

Dr B.
PS> If no recommendation has been made for rehab, I'd ask when and what is recommended.
