Tingling started in hands and now all over.
2 weeks ago after getting off the phone being crouched in an awkward position because my phone was plugged in to the charger. I noticed tingling in my left hand. Ring finger and pinky. It felt like it wouldn't go away and the next day these 2 fingers felt numb and spurts of pain slightly higher than my left elbow.
I noticed some stiffness in the back of my neck, left side. I've gotten into a bad habit of bending my head left and cracking my neck. I am also experiencing pain on the inside of my knees when trying to jog less than a mile. I am 25 year old male, 6'3, and 248 lbs.
I sit at a computer for work all day. Within ten minutes of sitting down the pain is very noticeable and starts instantly in my wrists. My left hand is very stiff as well. I have tingling and prickly sensation in random places all day long. In my feet, my wrists, fingers, thighs, forearms, and chest. I feel this sensation at random times of the day, even when laying down on the couch. My feet feel sore when standing and preparing food at home.
I went to see the doctor last week about this. Physical exam was fine, my blood sugar count is a little high and blood pressure was a little high as well. He believes I could have a pinched nerve. Can a pinched nerve cause all these symptoms?
My job is letting me go in 2 days and the Dr mentioned that stress can also be the cause. I have never experienced all these symptoms before and it feels like I am falling apart physically.
Hello,
There are different things going on here.
Let's start with the obvious. You're overweight and that threatens everything. With a BMI of 31 you are obese and that's worrying, especially at your age. Pain in the feet, risk of diabetes and heart disease...
I'm not accusing, you've no doubt heard it before, but if you want to live a healthy, painfree life, the first step is get at least 30 pounds off. Take a look at our Weight loss program, people prove that it can be done every day. Less carbs is the answer. The probable cause of the pain in your feet.
Secondly, cracking your neck is not a bad habit, it's a very very very bad habit. In my experience a pinched nerve in the neck is inevitable, and that's exactly what's happening. The C8 nerve is being affected. If you go on cracking your neck you'll end up under the neurosurgeon's knife, and perhaps quite soon.
That tingling that has started all over is certainly worrying. There are many possible causes, and if it goes on I'd suggest a visit to a neurologist. But start with a simple urine test for sugar.
There are no easy answers to any of these. It all starts with the decision "I want to be healthy, I'm tired of pain, and I'll do what ever it takes..." These are just the first warning signs of what is to come. Start walking every day.
Get some X-rays of your neck, including obliques and start looking for a good chiro in your neck of the woods. Talk to friends and family and even your doctor. But if you go on cracking your neck, chiropractic won't help you. Nothing will.
I hope this contributes, good luck. Let me know in a couple months how you are getting on.
