Tingling in left hand and arm

by Steven
(Liverpool)

Hi

I have recently been getting a tingling pain in my left hand and arm especially at night. This sometimes sends a wierd feeling to my head for a split second, is it anything to worry about? Thanks.

Hello Steven

Yes, it probably is. I don't believe in rushing off to the doctor or chiropractor every time you have a snivel or little pain, but when it starts to radiate down the arm, you must sit up and take note.

That's why you've written of course, you're concerned and rightly so.

Does moving your head and neck provoke the pain? Which fingers? Any swelling of the fingers?

Are you otherwise in good health? Blood pressure?

Had any neck injuries?

If it's in the first three fingers, it's called carpal tunnel syndrome and your chiropractor will look to a muscle in your forearm called the pronator teres, your wrist and the first rib in your neck.

But the truth is, it could be a multitude of things. See someone if it doesn't pass over in a few days, or starts getting worse.
