Tingling in left arm and hand, sometimes in left foot and right hand
Hi there, convinced I had MND,because a close work colleague said his started like that,I'd like your opinion on what it might be please.
Its in my left arm in the main, really bad at night and often wakes me arm,I often have a burning sensation in my forearm and very often feels like somethins crawling inside my arm,not an eletric shock, more like something moving up and down inside it.
It bothers me during the day but it is worse at night. Sometimes if I put my arm at my side or behind my back it goes away completely.
PS No physical cause that I know off, albeit at the same time I had a severe cough like pneumonia, really tired and struggled to walk up stairs, but the antibiotics kicked in,far better now and back to normal!
PS 6'2 18 STONE Age 44
I play Golf two-three times a week
Any ideas?
Thanks for your time
Hello Paul, Never jump to conclusions! A host of neurological conditions present in similar ways.
MND is relatively uncommon, but a condition called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, or a Cervical facet syndrome are far more likely causes. Both cause pain accentuated at night and relieved by moving your arm.
Do you have any neck pain? Turn your head to the left, and look up. Anything unusual? Pain?
Stretch your right arm out to the side, palm forwards, and now extend the wrist, remembering the tight feeling in the forearm. Repeat with naughty arm. Any difference?
In short, a thorough chiropractic examination is in order, before your imagination runs rife.
We work with an important sequence: Take history, examination, special tests (like XR), and then make a diagnosis and proceed with treatment. When you move making the diagnosis out of sequence, you get into trouble. I hope this has contributed.
