When I wake up in the morning my right hand is numb. It's hard for me to turn off my alarm on my phone. I usually sleep upward so I don't put any pressure on my right hand to cause this numbness. Should I be worried? Hello Kolette, The rules are: any problem that continues for a period of time should be investigated. It's so much harder to treat chronic conditions and the likelihood of success is lower.
You probably have what is known a carpal tunnel syndrome, a double crush condition where the median nerve is affected either in the lower neck, the forearm and/or the wrist. It generally supplies 3-4 fingers, not the pinkie.
Do you have neck pain. Prod in the muscle in your upper forearm, is it sore?
A good exam... look for an experienced chiro in your neck of the woods.
