Tingling in hands and arms

by Holly Grissom
(Charlottetown, PEI, Canada)

Hi,
I have been experiencing pain in my arms and hands. It's not quite like tingling, but it feels like moments of someone pulling on the nerves in my limbs (not just the arms and hands, but my legs and feet as well) I have Restless Legs Syndrome, so would that have anything to do with this? I have an appointment with a Neurologist soon, but I am hoping to get some idea of what is going on before that.

It's impossible for me to advise, Holly. What's needed is an exam to see if the pain in the hands and arms is local - like carpal tunnel syndrome - or something in the neck, brain or spinal cord. Like the restless legs for example. Obviously the treatment is quite different.

Recommend you go ahead with the neurologist. If he doesn't have much to add, then a good thorough chiropractic exam would be recommended to see if we could help.

Ask the neuro, or your doctor if he can recommend a chiropractor in your neck of the woods.

Dr B
Sometimes it only occurs once for about 30 seconds and goes away, and sometimes (like right now) it comes and goes every 30 seconds for about 10 minutes in waves of pain. I have been experiencing this for about 6-9 years now, but it seems to be getting worse, where it only started in my arms, then it moved to my other limbs over time.
Please let me know what you think this could be.
