Tingling in arms and hands
Hello,
I have had a strange, upsetting pain in my thumb knuckle, then in an old scar from a cut on the thumb, now the thumb to right wrist and lower arm. It is so disturbing I am breaking down in tears. I am an artist and sculptor, and am sensitive about my hands. The veins are raised, look awful - yes , I am vain ... smile , and there is a raised vein on the left going across the wrist that is not mirrored on the other side.
The hand is weaker as well when holding things. Feels a bit like an infected area. I got Lyme disease a few years ago, and have cervical spine problems, with seriously worn discs and a curved spine in the neck area that can get inflamed and swollen if I carry too much.
I also have some tooth problems on the same - left side. I have had a small abcess on the gum over the tooth off and on for a few months, but do not wish a root canal, nor an extraction. I take lots of natural herbal supplements like fulvic acid, which really helped the neck improve, and rubbing with castor oil.
The grinding and crackling sounds are almost gone with those 2 supplements, but this strange pain is truly upsetting me. I also have slight numbness when I swim down the inner arms when I first get in the pool.
A spinal curve to the side, and slightly raised hip seem to be part of my back problems. What could this be? The weakness in the hand and pain are very scary. Thank you so much for any help in advance.
Hello Tasha,
Just to be sure, it's perhaps best to first see your medical doctor to rule out infection and even a thrombosis. Unlikely, but it does happen.
You probably have some arthritis in that thumb knuckle, for which Omega-3 oil might be best. Keep the Omega-6 oils (seed oils) down, and rather use olive oil.
That spreading pain into your arm, or from your arm into your hand, needs careful assessment by a chiropractor. It could be from the Pronator Teres muscle, even Tennis elbow, and could be related to the problems you obviously have in the neck.
Yes, a short leg is a common cause of the scoliosis you have, and sometimes an orthotic in the shoe may help, but it's a real art to find the right size and shape. Your chiropractor will advise.
The muscles of the hand are supplied from the lower neck. That creaking and groaning from your neck was probably the beginning of wear and tear of the joints, and they can and do affect the nerves. That's where your chiropractor can help you the most.
In short... a careful and thorough chiropractic examination is indicated, and an initial evaluation from your doctor.
A tooth abscess can really undermine your health, seeding bacteria into the blood system. Don't be anxious about a root canal, properly done it will greatly improve that problem in your tooth. I personally have rotten teeth (from antibiotics when I was a baby, but saved my life: diptheria) and have at least 10 root canals. Only one was incompetently done. I recommend them rather than a sour infected tooth infecting the area and sometimes your whole body.
I hope this has contributed.
