Tingling arms and hands

I get electric tingling in both my hands wrist and arms after doing push ups. it goes away after a while and it doesn't happen every time i do push ups. It started last semester when I was doing yoga, weight lifting, and taking a sculpting class. Do you know what it may be?

Which fingers would give us a clue. The median nerve passes between the two bellies of the Pronator Teres muscle in the forearm, affecting the fingers but excluding the pinkie. See our Carpal Tunnel syndrome page.

If it affects all the fingers, then I'd be looking to do Adson's test to check for a Thoracic Outlet syndrome.

If it goes to the ring finger and pinkie, then I'd be thinking of the ulnar groove in the elbow.

Underlying all these is usually a fixation in one of the lower cervical vertebrae or the first rib.

If it continues to bother, or you start to get symptoms whilst at rest, then I'd look up your local chiropractor.
