Sudden tingle in the middle finger when holding metal objects

by Mia Rivera
(Manila, Philippines)

What's the cause of the sudden tingle in my middle finger (and sometimes index finger of my right hand) when i touch metal objects (i.e. shower knob, car doors)? Hope you could enlighten me on this as the feeling irritates me.

Thanks..

Hello Mia,
It's hard to be sure. The middle finger is supplied by the C7 nerve root in your neck, but I would not expected you only to have trouble when touching metal objects.

More likely it's an entrapment of the nerve in your hand. Rub your left thumb up and down the midhand right. Are there any hard or painful tendons in the hand?

I would recommend a visit to hand orthopaedic surgeon.

I hope this has contributed.
