severe tingling in hands, tingling neck and intermitent down spine and legs

by Bridget
(Philly)

I have severe tingling in my right hand.. i am right handed. there are times when i can not write my whole name without my hand getting numb. it does go up my arm. i have tingling sensations bilaterally on my neck, right where the neck and shoulder meets. I have felt the tingling down my spine and in my legs but that is most intermittent than any other symptoms.

i had nerve test done, came back with MILD results. i also have a VERY foggy memory and i am switching up my words constantly. intermittent blurred vision and i hearing loss... does that make sense????

..please help..... what is your opinion?

Hello Bridget,
The first thing to establish is whether this tingling is coming from your neck, or first rib, or from an underlying neurological condition.

Do movements of your head and neck provoke the tingling and pain in your arms? In particular, does turning to the side, and simulaneously looking up cause pain in the neck and arm?

Which fingers are tingling? That gives lots of information.

Your foggy brain may well be caused by all the medication you are taking, a well-known side-effect of anticholinergic medication.

However the blurred vision, hearing loss and intermittent tingling down the spine suggests to me that you need to have an MRI of the brain and spinal cord. If that produces nothing of significance, then it's time to consult a chiropractor. Look for someone with a reputation for being thorough and careful - this isn't straight-forward. Ask your doctor for a name perhaps.

You don't mention X-rays, always the first step in a condition such as this.

I hope this has contributed. Let me have some answers to the above questions.
