Numbness in Left hand fore-finger

Hi Sir,

I am experiencing numbness in my left arm's fore-finger from past 3 days. Also, during night time, i have observed some pain in my left arm triceps region and my shoulder regions (both arms). I don't have any history of such pains but all of a sudden this has come up. I can do my all work as usual, but only thing is that the numbness is still persisting in my fore-finger (left arm). Since few months, i was not sleeping in a comfortable posture and also, i usually avoid using pillows while sleeping, instead i use my arms to rest my head at night. I don't know whether this has been caused due to that or something else.
Please guide me with exact cause and solution for this nubness of left arm fore-finger.

Name: Prash T
Height: 5 Ft 11 inches
Weight: 80 Kgs
No Blood Sugar or BP problems

Dear Prash,
It doesn't radiate to the thumb as well? The thumb and forefinger together make up the C6 dermatome.

I'd first be thinking of problem in the hand itself. However, the pain in your shoulders and upper arms is obviously part of the problem. No pain in the neck? Turning your head doesn't hurt? Raising your arms is not painful?

Dig your thumb into the muscles of the anterior forearm. No pain?

A fixation of the first rib, or even a cervical rib, could be the problem. See "thoracic outlet syndrome" at C-H.

If sleeping without a pillow means you are sleeping on your tum, then that definitely can be the cause. I recommend one soft, not too-thick pillow.

If it doesn't go away, get professional advice.
