Numbness in fingers when I 'tip' my head forwards & severe dizziness when I tip it backwards?

Numbness in fingers when I 'tip' my head forwards & severe dizziness when I tip it backwards? Also when walking & after sleeping/relaxing.

In may 2011 I was beaten unconscious by a group of youths & suffered from intolerable headaches for a couple of months & felt similar symptoms to the ones i've tried to describe. However of late they have become more exaggerated especially after sleep?? please advise & many thanks to you X

Hello,
I need more details. Do you have neck pain? Which fingers (both sides?) go numb when you flex your head forwards? What about rotating your head to the side, and then simultaneously looking up?

Lying in bed, if you turn your head to the side abruptly, do you get dizzy? Which way?

Have you had a scan of your neck and/or head? What did they show? What medical reports have you had?

One possibility is Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Type BPPV in the Search this site facility at C-H for more details. But worryingly is more serious injury to the brainstem. BPPV responds very well to the Epley manoeuvres.

What's needed is a careful and thorough chiropractic exam by an experienced chiro. Start looking for someone who treats vertigo... but be careful, manipulation of the neck with your symptoms should only be done with the uttermost discretion.

Yours is not a case for a young graduate who rushes in where angels fear to tread!

Let me know the answers to the above...
