Numbness in arms and hands

Numbness in arms and hands

I have burning in numbness in my hand that sometimes shoots up to the lower arm and then the upper arm that makes it really painful. It happens when I sleep but also during the day when I'm performing tasks.

Even when I change my baby's diaper. It happens mostly on my left hand and sometimes on my right hand. The farther away from the body the numbner it is. The finger tips are numbner than the hand and the hand numbner than the arm and so on. The numbness on my fingers hasn't gone away in months. They are numb 24/7. The numbness in my hand comes and goes but it happens everyday specially when performing tasks.

At night time is more painful. My left limb always gets numb when I sleep and I don't sleep on it. Just by laying down it goes numb.

Hello,
The first question is to establish which fingers go numb. That helps us decide whether it's likely to be a carpal tunnel syndrome, a cervical rib, a slipped disc in the neck... there are really a great many possibilities.

The second, do you have neck pain, and do movements of your neck provoke or relieve the numbness in your hands.

Very rarely it could be something more serious like MS.

If I may hazard a guess, seeing you recently had a baby, that Carpal Tunnel syndrome is quite likely. It's a double crush syndrome with the median nerve affected in the "inter scalene triangle", between the bodies of the Pronator teres muscle in the forearm, and/ or the wrist.

Type these terms into the Search this Site facillity at C-H.

I hope this has contributed.
