Numbness in arms and hands after a cortisone shot

Numbness in arms and hands After receiving a cortisone shot in the wrist my friend now has numbness on the inside of her left arm & also on her left side.. Hello Linda, I'm trying not to be cynical, but why did she go for a cortisone shot. It's such a dangerous drug. Had she tried everything else? Had she been to a chiropractor, a physiotherapist, a physical therapist and they couldn't help. Then, so be it, you have to go for more radical treatment.
Either the doctor's knowledge of anatomy isn't too good and he penetrated the ulna nerve with the needle, or the drug itself has damaged the nerve.
It's important to at least inform the clinic that she has had this reaction to the treatment. Then I'd suggest she do as little as possible, perhaps ice the area, to see if nature won't do its thing.
Then over a week or two, I'd suggest she consult someone else with a view to treating the initial problem. Probably a carpal tunnel syndrome, right? There's much the chiropractic can do for CTS provided the doctor addresses the arm as well as the neck.
Nothing short of a careful thorough examination can give her specific and correct advice. This above should be treated simply as speculative. Time to start doing some homework: look for a chiropractor who is competent to treat the extremities as well as the spine. A FICS certificate would be a great help. Talk to your local chiropractic association.
I hope this has contributed.
