Leg pain

by Tym
(Beijing, China)

Dull pain on outside of left leg adjacent to buttocks, below hips but above thigh. Does not always cause bother but is aggravated when walking upstairs, in particular.

Hello Tym,
Apologies for late reply.

There are numerous possibilities. If you pull your knee to the chest is it stiff and painful compared to the other leg?

If you bend forwards, backwards and to the side do you get any back or leg pain?

Then there's the piriformis muscle and trochanteric bursa that can cause pain in that area.

And then various nerve related conditions like Meralgia paresthetica and a pinched femoral nerve.

What's needed is a good thorough examination of the area.
