I have tingling and numbness in my little finger RHS, tingling in my ring finger. Slight numbness in tips of fingers

When I use my hands I end up with deep dull ache in my right forearm just below elbow and on the RHS of my face near my eye socket. Lifting over 5kg gives me a headache.
I was involved in a car accident - when stationary I was hit from behind by a 44t b double truck travelling at speed. I was diagnosed with WAD. This was two and half years ago.
I have no neck pain but can not lie on my back without ache rhs base of skull which then gives me a headache. I was also diagnosed with mild bi lateral carpel tunnel syndrome.
My Dr wants me to have the carpel tunnel surgery to start to see if this corrects the problem, then nerve injections into the neck. I am concerned about the surgery and injections. Is this the right course of action.
Hello Coli,
I depends on your philosophy of health care. Personally I think it radical to do surgery with all the attendant risks, just to determine if it's carpal tunnel syndrome. Certainly without having first tried conservative means.
Also, your doctor's not too strong on neurology. The ring finger and pinkie do not belong to the Median nerve, the nerve which may become pinched in the carpal tunnel. Those two fingers are pure C8 dermatome.
Having said that, with symptoms in the tips of your fingers, it may not be that straight forward. Has your doctor done Adson's test? It's the definitive test for a Thoracic Outlet Syndrome TOS. The scalene muscles in the neck and the first rib are part of the anchoring of the head and neck, and are frequently injured in a whiplash injury.
Those headaches are typical too of an irritated nerve high in the neck. No jaw joint pain or cracking? That too can cause pain around the eye. Using your arm, you have to use the scalenes to stabilise the neck and shoulder - hence the radiation to the neck, and the tingling in your arm.
Gather your X-rays and start shopping around for a thorough experienced chiropractor in your neck of the woods. Yours are the sort of symptoms I treat on a daily basis.
Make sure someone checks the Pronator teres muscle in the forearm.
Let me know how you get on, Coli. Good luck.
