FEMORAL NERVE and leg pain
L4 dermatome?
Femoral nerve and leg pain
I fell 3 mos ago and suffered a tibial plateau fracture which has pretty much healed.
I also felt a burning strained feeling on the upper leg next to my shin bone at the time of the accident. Instead of healing it seems to have gotten worse with pain extending down to my ankle, especially after standing awhile and at night.
Any ideas?
Hello,
This could be a host of things. When there's enough force to break a bone, the joints on either side often are injured too. In this case, since it seems to start in the thigh, probably your knee. Does your knee hurt?
Any back pain? This could also be a L3 or L4 nerve root injury. You need to have the Sciatic and Femoral nerve stretch tests done.
Then it may just be residual pain from the injury to your tibia, or even a muscle pain - there are various muscles that attach to the shin.
Find a chiropractor near you, and have a thorough examination of your lower leg, knee, hip and back. Take the X-rays of your leg with you.
I hope this has contributed.
