aching arm and tingling in hand

by Laura
(Devon)

interscalene triangle

interscalene triangle

Hello. I have a bad shoulder, it pops out of place everytime i move it. It's got worse over last few years, and the shoulder often goes completely numb or burning sensation.

the last week, my arm on the same side has been aching alot, loss of strength, feels like it is about to go into spasm, and my hand has constant pins and needles. I was wondering if you had any idea what could be done. many thanks

Hello Laura,
There's an intimate relationship between the shoulder, arm and the lower neck. That's where the nerves and artery emerge through the "inter scalene triangle" (use the Search this site function at C-H).

The tingling in your arm certainly indicates that the root of your shoulder problem is in the neck.

I won't pretend that the solution is simple if you've had it for years. Your chiropractor will have to assess your neck, the scalene triangle, the shoulder and in fact your whole arm.

At C-H you'll find some very simple "frozen shoulder" exercises that will help strengthen your shoulder, though you don't have a frozen shoulder. An ounce of prevention...

There's a lot on arm pain, slipped disc in the neck, rotator cuff syndrome, cervical ribs... at C-H. Spend some time browsing.
